About the Event
Wright Memorial Public Library, the Oakwood Inclusion Coalition, and Unity in the Community: South Dayton Celebrates Juneteenth are collaborating to offer a free screening of the award-winning 2024 movie "The Six Triple Eight". The film tells the story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-black, all-female battalion in World War II.
For a post-film discussion, we are pleased to welcome Cassie Barlow, president of Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE), former commander of the 88th Air Base Wing at WPAFB, volunteer with several organizations supporting women and underrepresented populations in business and leadership roles, and author of the book "Saluting Our Grandmas: Women of World War II".
