About the Event
Join Wright Memorial Public Library in commemorating Juneteenth with a powerful and engaging community conversation featuring guest speaker Michael Carter.
Michael Carter brings a dynamic perspective shaped by more than two decades at Sinclair Community College, where he serves as senior advisor to the president and chief diversity officer. His work extends beyond academia, it is rooted in personal passion and lived experience. He is dedicated to preserving and sharing African American history in ways that are both meaningful and accessible.
Drawing from his extensive collection of historical artifacts, including rare documents and intimate photographs, Carter transforms history into compelling and reflective stories. His focus on uncovering lesser-known narratives, such as unique and candid moments from influential figures like Martin Luther King Jr., allows audiences to connect with history in fresh and impactful ways.
Carter’s journey as a collector, driven by persistence and deep emotional connection, brings authenticity and depth…
