About the Event
This effort addresses a real and pressing issue: 64% of Black children and 45% of Latino children have little or no swimming ability, compared to 40% of white children. Even more sobering, Black children are six times more likely to die in swimming pool drownings than white children (CDC).
This clinic is part of a national initiative to close that gap—and it's a chance for our community to help.
Here’s how you or others can support:
High school students (NHS or otherwise) can earn volunteer hours by helping at the event.
Certified lifeguards or swim instructors are needed to help lead the clinic.
Help spread the word about the event and the opportunity to volunteer.
