About the Event

This effort addresses a real and pressing issue: 64% of Black children and 45% of Latino children have little or no swimming ability, compared to 40% of white children. Even more sobering, Black children are six times more likely to die in swimming pool drownings than white children (CDC).

This clinic is part of a national initiative to close that gap—and it's a chance for our community to help.

Here’s how you or others can support:

  • High school students (NHS or otherwise) can earn volunteer hours by helping at the event.

  • Certified lifeguards or swim instructors are needed to help lead the clinic.

  • Help spread the word about the event and the opportunity to volunteer.
